Il vizietto del padiglione italiano

ITA | ENG

As no news are coming from the Italian Ministry of Culture, we have started a petition.

It is time to indicate the name/s of the curator/s of the Italian Pavilion at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition at the Biennale di Venezia.

Experience demonstrates – just remember the previous Italian Pavilion, whose curator was chosen only three months before the vernissage – that there’s no time to waste. Such an important curatorial project should’nt be given less than one year to be prepared: the Biennale starts in little more than seven months… what is the Ministry waiting for?

The other participants have moved in time. At this link we are tracking down the national pavilions that already have a curator. Once more, Italy is late.

If that wasn’t enough, next Biennale promises to be memorable. Rem Koolhaas, the curator, is one of the most important architects of our times, and the high expectations that his exhibition is creating are clearly visible in the names of the directors of the other national pavilions, most of whom are great and internationally known professionals.

We believe that Italy too should have the possibility to take part in this exhibition with a curatorial project worthy of its importance. For this reason, we ask the Ministry of Culture to choose as soon as possible, through the most suitable procedure (provided its transparency), one or more curators for the Italian Pavilion at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition at the Biennale di Venezia, in order to give them the time – at least this time – to prepare a first rate curatorial project.

If you too wish for a better Italian Pavilion at next Biennale, please help us by signing the petition created by Zeroundicipiù and Il Giornale dell’Architettura, and directed to Massimo Bray, Minister of Culture and Tourism.
